Further Description:
Brick and wood foundation. Basement is under original house and is 10-12 feet from floor to ceiling. Back part of house was built first, then front part added a few years later. There is bracketing at top of house and a hood overhang at the door front. Interior features moulding at ceiling and find curved railing at stairway to second floor. Gargage added much later.
History and Significance:
William Overhuls, a carpenter, purchased land from Seth L. Curtis in 1872, when section was subdivided. He built the entire house himself. Numerous people have resided in the house; James M. Hoffman and Andrew B. Slagle lived for longer periods of time than most.
