Further Description:
Similar in plan to many early federal style buildings with 5 bay fronts, although aluminum has covered the original facade. Structure is substantially altered. A new 2 story porch across front, and at rear also.
History and Significance:
A property owned by Joseph Stout from 1864-66 and Samuel Facey 1862-64. Stout was a pioneer in the area and owned an early hotel and tavern which was moved (known as Stout House). This structure is possibly related to that tavern, although the connection has not been proven. There also is long ownership by the Evangelical Lutheran Church (1866-1906), and it is known that they had a church ediface on Monroe St. after 1867, but a specific location is not mentioned.
Description of Environment and Outbuildings:
On corner lot in residential section, near commercial business district.
