Further Description: Unusual marble front on older building. Marble extensively carved with eagles, and other relief patterns. Metal eagles also grace front facade above main entrance, which covers most of first floor. Fluted marble pilasters flank main entrance. A likely Italianate building altered into a Modern style bank. |
History and Significance: L. L. Orwig settled in Napoleon in 1872. He was the owner and editor of the Democratic Northwest newspaper. He owned the property from 1875 to 1927, when it was sold to Otto Tietjens. |
