Further Description:
Hipped roof with a glazed cap. Simple brackets support eave, and spring from within wide freize. Windows are all 2/2 with plain lug sills. Newer porch has been added to and runs across 1st story facade. No ornaments around windows, all openings flat-topped.
History and Significance:
Good farmhouse, now part of city. On land purchased by Henry Yeager, Sr. in the 1850's from William Dodd, the original landowner. Henry Yeager farmed this area till 1888, during which time this house was built. His son William Yeager farmed the land after 1888, and until 1933. It has long been the DeSutter farm, where Leo and Mary DeSutter operated a wholesale vegetable business. Still owned by Mary DeSutter.
Description of Environment and Outbuildings:
On corner lot in city residential section, on fringe of rural area. Some farm buildings still adjacent to house, including 'tin sheeting' covered barn. Nearby Yeager St. named after Yeager family.
